My first fine art piece. A massive 4ft x 3ft print on shimmery brushed aluminum. Ink is sublimated and the vapor is infused deep into the metal, creating unparalleled quality and durability. With a curing process to guard against scratches and dust, this product is even durable enough to be hung outside in a covered area. Since the ink is actually infused into the metal, it won’t fade or lose its brilliance like you might experience in cheaper prints where the ink is deposited on top of the material. This product is built to last multiple lifetimes. 


About The Art

Anthropos comes from two root words in the ancient greek:  ἀνήρ (anḗr, “man”) and ὤψ (ṓps, “face, appearance, look”). Literally translated, it means something like “One who looks like a human”. 𐠀𐠰𐠦𐠡𐠩 is how the word was written before the greek alphabet and paper were introduced using the Cypriot syllabary, where the letters would typically be etched into marble or clay. This piece is a reflection on what 𐠀𐠰𐠦𐠡𐠩 means today in the burgeoning era of AI. We’re creating a bifurcation between our digital and physical representations of self – presenting ourselves one way on the internet while living completely different lives in reality. All the while, we are creating algorithms to teach computers and AI who we are – but is what the computer sees truly 𐠀𐠰𐠦𐠡𐠩? The style of the image is an homage to the progression in forms of writing, representing simultaneously how far we have come and how far we have yet to go towards creating our AI descendants.

 

Additional Info

Since the piece is largely covered in shimmery metal, it will take a variety of appearances depending on the lighting of the room it is displayed in. The best lighting configuration I have found for it is a room with lots of ambient sunlight or diffuse angled lighting from the ceiling. A dark room with little lighting will have the piece take a more ominous appearance, where you catch only shimmers and glimpses that follow you as you walk by. I really enjoy how the piece changes in character from day to night.

The product is surprisingly light for being made entirely out of metal (it weighs around 14 lbs/6.5kg) so it can be hung without too much extra effort. The attached mounting rails are roughly 1″ thick, so the metal will float out slightly from the wall, providing depth and fullness to the piece.

With a PhD in optics/physics, Caleb Gannon has proven his attention to detail, organization and an insistence on perfection. Every piece is meticulously crafted to make sure your final product is an awe inspiring work of art.

Each piece is created and printed at high resolution (300DPI). The larger prints are never upscaled in any way, they are created at full size and will be bursting with fine detail for you to explore.

When you place an order, you will receive email notifications confirming your order, and a second email with tracking information when your product has shipped. If an item becomes lost or damaged during shipping we will send you a replacement for free.

Return Policy

I offer 100% no hassle replacements of defective or damaged products (without the need to return anything).

If you are not happy with the quality of your product, it was damaged, defective or you have other issues with your order contact me at caleb@calebgannon.com within 10 days of receipt of the product (the sooner the better) and I'll do everything I can to help you find a solution. If possible, attaching photos of the problem can significantly speed up the process.
Returns
Because each product is made to order, created and shipped locally from many locations across the globe I do not currently have the infrastructure to process returns. I do offer refunds and replacements though, which are discussed above.
